This 1994 coin set were the first coins Mongolia issued for circulation after abandoning communism in 1992. Included are the 20, 50, 100 and 200 Tugrik. The obverses of the coins all picture the Soyombo, the national emblem of Mongolia that had been discarded under communism. The Soyombo includes many symbols associated with Lamaistic Buddhism, long practiced in Mongolia. The 100 and 200 Tugrik also picture national buildings on the reverse.
